Native to Sumatra, an
island of Indonesia, these tigers are, unfortunately, extremely endangered,
with 400-500 individuals estimated alive in the wild today, 270 are
captive in zoos and parks. Conservation attempts are ongoing but hampered
by the political situation, where the violent downfall of the Suharto
Regime has forced conservationists to flee for their safety. Hopefully
we will be able to rescue these
glorious creatures from a cruel extinction.
