The Amur (or
Siberian) Tiger is the largest living cat in the world, and
inhabits the Russian far-east, China and North Korea, not
Siberia, making one of it's names a complete and total misnomer!
They require incredible amounts of land to inhabit; one adult male
may take an area as large as 1,600 square kilometres (40x40 km)
for it's own! Some experts say they are now extinct outside the Amur-Ussuri
region of Russia. Iranian and Russian ecologists are now
attempting to reintroduce them to the wild in central Asia.
